Lorelei is a kitsune necromancer and apothecary owner. In her past life she was an apothecary chemist's wife and helped tend to the village they watched over. Due to pestilence and war the village eventually fell and the inhabitants buried in unmarked graves.Decades later a wicked kitsune deity stumbles on the village and animates the dead to act as his servants while he occupies the same apothecary Lorelei used to live in. Now an undead with no sentience or identity Lorelei wanders the apothecary, tending to every beck and call from her new master. As time goes on some semblance of her humanity returns to her. She starts to look at the old cracked framed portraits on boudoirs and stare at seemingly indecipherable notes from her late husband's desk. One night she sneaks through the halls, making her way to the old study that used to belong to her partner. Staring at these endless letters, notes, and pictures she suddenly regains her grip on her mind and the memories start flooding back to her.Now reinvigorated with her identity she becomes painfully aware of the situation she finds herself in. She has to keep it together long enough to devise a plan to rid her once lively apothecary of it's nefarious new owner. Through weeks of observation while playing her role as dutiful servant she notices a belonging he never parts with, a necklace. Noticing how dodgy he is about removing it she begins to suspect that might be her way out. Wracking her brain of all her previous knowledge she remembers the folklore she used to study in her free time, specifically where a kitsune derives it's power from. Now equipped with the information needed to ensure her freedom she plots to forcefully separate the man from the source of his power laid within that necklace, the gemstone pendant Under cover of night she creeps into the living quarters of her master, now hovering over his sleeping body. Before she is able to strike he wakes abruptly as if instinct and disarms her. Now in a fight for each of their lives they tangle limbs to gain advantage over the other. In the end Lorelei gains control and breaks the chain from his neck. In a swift act of manic rage she drives the dagger down onto the jewel splintering it until the force shatters it from it's facet. Almost as if rain rolling down his skin the man's power is drained from him, visibly losing the once abundant bouquet of tails, now just a mortal in front of her. This isn't enough, still empowered by rage she lunges at him dagger in hand. As if with the accuracy of a surgeon she pierces his heart, leaving him grasping for whatever life he has left. The pent up pain and anguish seeing what has become of her loved ones and neighbors after already perishing so terribly fuels the fire in her to make sure the man dies and stays dead. To ensure this she removes his head from his shoulders. With the deity now gone, the divinity within the gemstone recognizes it is without owner and reforms to bestow it's powers onto Lorelei. She is now the keeper of the kitsune's powers, immortal and god-like. In an act of pity she disenchants the others that were reanimated and provides them a proper departure. Lovingly dressing the once unmarked graves with the names of her peers and lover. Being given this new life she carries on through the decades and centuries as the owner of her apothecary once more. A beacon of hope and care for her community under the glowing sun and a force of nature that comes to be feared under the shimmering moon. In the end her purpose has been rewritten: Take care of those who cannot otherwise care for themselves whether from exploitation or illness and dispose of those who aim to enforce such tyranny to the innocent.
